What is an ASBESTOS DEMOLITION SURVEY?

An asbestos demolition survey is a thorough examination conducted to identify the presence of asbestos-containing materials (ACMs) in a building before demolition. Unlike refurbishment asbestos surveys, In this type, the surveyors will go right through all parts of the building causing as much damage as is required to see exactly what the buildings construction is made from.

The damage can be extensive and as such this type of inspection should only be conducted where building’s are being demolished in full. Every void, panel, loft and boxing will be fully opened to provide the surveyor with full access to all areas of the building.

Due to the intrusive nature of these surveys, buildings must be fully vacated before surveyors embark on the site. Specialized equipment and sometimes specialist contractors are necessary to safely access certain areas.

Use of Asbestos Removal Contractors: Depending on the findings, it may be necessary to employ asbestos removal contractors to facilitate inspection behind existing ACMs, as these materials might conceal further ACMs.
