NON-Licensed Asbestos Materials:
The materials below are considered non-licensed materials and do not require a license to remove - They do however need to be removed carefully and safely by trained and equipped operatives with the appropriate insurances, training and waste facilities in place.
Asbestos Cement
The most common asbestos material in the UK. Found in roof sheets, panels, boards, garage roofs, ceilings, electrics, bath panels, soffits and fascia’s, down pipes and water tanks - Typically low risk where in good condition - Used in the UK up to 1999
Asbestos Textured Coating
Often referred to by the trade name Artex - Located in homes and buildings throughout the UK - Usually low risk unless in poor condition - May require notification depending upon extent
Asbestos Floor Tiles / Coverings
Common in both homes and commercial and industrial properties - Often located in poor condition below more modern coverings - Typically a low risk due to the bonded nature of the material unless damaged
Asbestos Composites And Bitumen
Composite materials include toilet seats, plastics, toilet cisterns, skirting’s, bitumen felts and coatings - Normally a low risk to health unless in a poor condition.

All the materials below are considered licensed materials and legally require a licensed contractor to remove them.

Fire protection in the form of panels, tiles, boards, packers, fillets, soffit boards, doors, within and below boilers and many other applications - Often mistaken for plasterboard - High risk to health where damaged or bare material is present - common in homes dating before 1984
