ASBESTOS ENCAPSULATION LEEDS
Client: National Car Part Company
Services provided: Asbestos Encapsulation
Location: Leeds
Project Cost: £12,000
Duration: 15 Days
Details:
Asbestos Audit Ltd was awarded the contract for asbestos encapsulation of asbestos wall panels on a car part warehouse in Leeds.
Asbestos was located to various areas and following a risk assessment and cost analysis encapsulation was chosen as the best option for the client going forward.
Procedure:
The remit area was fully encapsulated in ET150 encapsulation paint. All bare areas of material were fully coated in 2 x layers of encapsulant to ensure the material is safe to work around and limit potential disturbance and potential damage.
WHAT IS ASBESTOS ENCAPSULATION?
Asbestos encapsulation is the coating of asbestos material in a specific encapsulation paint (usually ET150 or a similar product). The technique is used in the management of Asbestos-containing materials (ACMs). Common reasons for encapsulation include prohibitive cost of full removal, inconvenience of large scale asbestos works or shut down of areas for extended periods, asbestos materials being stuck within the structure or sealed within non-accessible places and simply due to the ease of encapsuling compared to full removal works.
Whatever the reason for encapsulation the technique is used in preventing harmful Asbestos fibres from becoming airborne and causing a risk to site users.
Encapsulation involves the careful application of a sealant to the ACM, which serves as a seal to protect against any disturbance, weather damage and accidental damage.
Encapsulation can also come in the form of fully enclosing a material using advanced materials such as resins, boxings (timber, plasterboard or plastic) and even sheet metal cladding to ensure even greater protection against damage.
The benefits of encapsulation are many. Not only does it repair any damaged Asbestos and seal exposed edges, but it also extends the usable life of the material, reduces fibre release caused by general degradation, and improves its overall visual appearance.
Perhaps most importantly, Asbestos encapsulation helps to safeguard the health and wellbeing of those who may come into contact with the material. Once encapsulated, warning labels are placed to prevent any unintentional disruption, ensuring the safety of everyone involved.
So if you're looking for a reliable and effective technique for managing Asbestos-containing materials, encapsulation is a must-have strategy that should not be overlooked.
