The Asbestos Audit Ltd team have just completed the full asbestos management surveys for 3 commercial retail properties in the centre of Newcastle. The properties on Grey Street, Newgate Street and Clayton Street have been purchased by an investment company with sitting tenants.
The surveys were required to update the existing information for the stores and provide the client with the peace of mind that they care covered and in line with The Duty To Manage and Control of Asbestos Regulations 2012.
As the buildings were tenanted our teams worked outside of normal hours to create as little impact on the store owners as possible.
One of the buildings had not been inspected for some time. This led to the discovery of damaged asbestos on site in one of the back store rooms. The material was reported immediately to the client and a suitably qualified asbestos contractor was brought in to assist and clean up the problem.
Following the on site works a full asbestos management survey reports were created and issued to the client keeping them legally covered. The surveys covered all areas of the buildings including basements, store rooms, shop front and upper floor storage areas. The external areas of the properties were also included in the inspection.
