A few simple questions can help identify if you have a legal duty to manage asbestos

Understanding the Risks and Legal Responsibilities

The Health and Safety Executive (HSE) has launched a new campaign called "Asbestos – Your Duty" aimed at highlighting the risks associated with asbestos in buildings and ensuring clarity on legal obligations for managing these risks.

The campaign primarily targets dutyholders, including building owners, landlords, business proprietors, and individuals responsible for building maintenance or repair.

Protecting Against Asbestos Exposure

Dutyholders play a crucial role in safeguarding individuals from the hazards of asbestos exposure, whether they are occupants or workers within the premises.

The legal duty to manage asbestos extends to various types of buildings, encompassing workplaces, public facilities, and common areas in residential buildings.

Providing Resources And Determining Legal Obligations

The campaign offers dutyholders access to a range of resources, including updated web pages, templates for asbestos management plans, and explanatory videos, all available on the HSE website Here.

Dutyholders can use a set of simple questions provided on the campaign's website to determine their legal duty regarding asbestos management.
